Sensei Andy Sloane - Episode 530

Steven A. “Andy” Sloane, A.S., is a native of Shreveport, LA. His introduction to the martial arts began with judo in January 1991 while in middle school. On November 1, 1993, as a freshman in high school, he began training in Isshin-ryu karate under Harvey L. Kennedy. Kennedy was his primary instructor until November 2000, but he also briefly trained under Robert Kristensen (1994-1995) and Jared Blackwell (1999-2000) while living in Texas. Since November 2000, Sloane has trained directly under Ed Johnson, a first- generation student of Isshin-ryu’s founder. Sloane moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan area at the end of May 1994, completing high school in McKinney, TX (1997) and receiving his Associate of Science degree from Collin College (2000).
